Welcome to the Beat #1, the first beat in a series providing you the pulse of the Asheville music scene. With every Beat we will highlight what artists are up to with respect to their music. Are they recording, about to start a new tour, just finished their new album, having an album release show or any thing else that we think music fans would find interesting.
Southern Pine, a solo project of Zack Kardon, just released his debut EP “Standing Still” He is having a release show this Friday (1/18/19) with a full band at Isis Music Hall, and Jack Victor and Ellen Siberian Tiger (from Philly) supporting him.
Tellico recently released their second album “Woven Waters”, and they are having a release show this Friday (1/18/19) at The Grey Eagle. Irish musician John Doyle not only produced and played on the album but he will also be performing at the show.
Yes The Raven is an incredible guitarist and he has been laying down new tracks finishing up his new album. He is still making time for new shows, and you can catch him this Saturday (1/19/19) at White Horse Black Mountain.
Andrew Scotchie & the River Rats are about to head out on their Winter Out West Tour. Looking at the venues they have lined up it is certain to be a successful mix of music and skiing in the mountains. Get to Ambrose West on Wednesday (1/23/19) for their send off show.
Taylor Martin released a new album “Song Dogs” in late 2018. This is Taylor’s third album and it was produced by Amanda Anne Platt (she also performed on it). In addition to his new album, he also has two new music videos to accompany the new album.
Threadbare, which is a solo project of Ben Makel, released his debut album entitled “The Morning EP”. He played an album release show at Isis Music Hall during which his mentor the great David Wilcox joined Ben onstage.
Showers on Mars has been recording at Falling Waters Recording Studio in Brevard.
